JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Open House takes place April 22

The Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Open House will be held from noon until 9:30 p.m., April 22, 2023.   

The day will kick off with an opening ceremony at noon, followed by museum tours, military demonstrations and exhibits, local vendors, a wide variety of activities for families, and much more.   

The 323rd Army Band - “Fort Sam’s Own” and the U.S. Air Force’s Band of the West will perform during the day, and the evening will conclude with an opening performance by veteran and singer-songwriter Joey Anderson, followed by country-blues-rocker Frankie Ballard.

This event is free and open to the public. 

Guests should enter JBSA-Fort Sam Houston through Harry Wurzbach Road. DOD ID cardholders can use the Walters or New Braunfels gates.

In general, traffic will flow as follows:

            -All I-410 traffic should exit at Harry Wurzbach and proceed South to the Wurzbach Gate.

            -Traffic from I-35 should exit at Rittiman Road and proceed West to Harry Wurzbach.

-DOD ID cardholders may enter through the Walters, Winfield Scott, or New Braunfels gates.

Visitors should keep in mind that weapons of any kind, outside food and drinks, and coolers are prohibited, and all bags will be searched.
