JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOSUTON, Texas –
As part of the Joint Base San Antonio Adopt-A-School program, Soldiers from the 232nd Medical Battalion at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston visited Veterans Memorial High School Jan. 12 to teach the Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Patriot Battalion students (cadets) techniques on how to “Stop the Bleed.”
The students received instruction on how to apply tourniquets and training materials specially developed to teach bleeding control techniques and then had the opportunity to practice.
Someone who is severely bleeding can bleed to death in as little as five minutes. That’s why bleeding control — keeping the blood inside the body — is the purpose of training.
