JBSA accepting 2023 Military Ambassador applications

By Kathleen Salazar 502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Joint Base San Antonio is looking for two Airmen and two Guardians, male and female, to represent the Air Force and Space Force to serve as military ambassadors at events throughout the community surrounding JBSA, with Fiesta being the highlight of the program.

JBSA Ambassadors participate in the annual 11-day celebration, with more than 50 activities associated with Fiesta San Antonio, as well as recognizing and celebrating San Antonio’s richly diverse cultures.

All E-4 to E-7 Air Force and Space Force members, 21 years old and older, assigned to JBSA, are eligible to apply to become Air Force and Space Force military ambassadors. Nomination packages will be distributed to public affairs offices across JBSA 22 August 22.

Military Ambassadors play an integral role in promoting the Air Force’s community relations program with duties that extend beyond Fiesta, encompassing attendance at numerous events in the San Antonio metropolitan area throughout the year.

“This is a great opportunity for our Airmen and Guardians to embrace the spirit of San Antonio’s rich culture and the bond between the military and the people within the local area,” said Brig. Gen. Russell Driggers, Joint Base San Antonio and 502nd Air Base Wing Commander.

Nominations are due to the 502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston by close of business Sept. 26. Nominees must provide a letter of recommendation from their unit commander.

Once nominated, candidates appear before a selection panel of chief master sergeants. The selection panel will review applications, conduct interviews and select the ambassadors.

The application packet can be found on the JBSA website associated with this article at https://www.jbsa.mil or email to 502ABW.PA.official@us.af.mil. Call 210-221-0456 for more information.
