Q: Our daily lives and routines are slowly beginning to return to somewhat normal times and I would like to address the continued closure of the Selfridge East/West gates at JBSA-Lackland.
I understand previous manpower issues, the number of authorized vs. filled positions and deployment obligations overseas were the reason for the closures.
I am just curious why they have not changed at all? If they have improved, can you possibly look at opening those two gates?
I realize opening them from the previous full-time hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. may not still be possible but what about limited hours for inbound and outbound traffic. Thank you.

We appreciate your willingness to bring this to our attention. We have no intention of opening JBSA-Lackland Selfridge Gates at this time, nor do we foresee any long-term solutions for doing so.
Rest assured that our Defenders across JBSA are intently focused on Base Defense and our normal processes to prioritize our missions and efficiencies and remain unchanged.
