Joint Base San Antonio skies a "no-drone" zone

By 502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs 502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Santa Claus delivered many personal drones to Joint Base San Antonio children on Christmas, but 502nd Security Forces Group staff reminds families that flying these devices on JBSA property is prohibited by Federal Aviation Administration rules.

At the Department of Defense's request, the FAA instituted Special Security Instruction Temporary Flight Restrictions to most, if not all, military bases, including JBSA installations.

Operators of personal drones can download the free B4UFLY app (Apple and Google Play stores) to learn more about safe spaces around JBSA to get new drones in the air.

Joint Base San Antonio will support civilian law enforcement investigations into unauthorized drone operations in its airspace. For all official or commercial uses, call 210-652-SUAS (7827).
