JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas –
The 502nd Security Forces Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston welcomed Lt. Col. Andrew L. Moore as its new commander during a change of command ceremony at the U.S. Army North Quadrangle June 10.
Moore takes over for Lt. Col. John D. Swift, who has led the squadron since August 2018. The ceremony was officiated by Col. Jeffrey F. Carter, commander of the 502nd Security Forces Group at JBSA-Randolph.
Moore comes to the 502nd SFS from the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center at JBSA-Lackland, where he was chief, plans and programs, Protection Services Division. While at AFIMSC, he was the principal advisor to the division’s chief on the development of all necessary plans, policies, procedures and detailed instructions for 77 major installations, nine major commands, two direct reporting units, 10 detachments, unit commanders, divisions and sections.
Originally from Peru, New York, the new commander enlisted in the Air Force in 1998 and was a law enforcement specialist until June 2004, when he attended Officer Training School, at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
Moore has served as a flight commander, operations officer, officer in charge, senior executive officer and commander at various levels and was at JBSA-Lackland since June 2017. He has also deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE.
