Tax center helps service members realize $4.17 million in refunds

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, commanding general, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army), thanked the volunteers for their time and service and presented awards at the Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Tax Center April 20. The Tax Center processed more than 2,111 federal and more than 200 state returns. The tax center was able to reach more than 3,400 clients and returned more than $4.17 million in the form of refunds to the community. The Tax Center also saved the JBSA-Fort Sam Houston community more than $434,000 in filing and preparation fees. “It's always good when we can help out our fellow Service Members, retirees, and their families,” the general said.
