433rd CES firefighters pay tribute to 9/11 firefighters

By Senior Airman Bryan Swink 433rd Airlift Wing Public Affairs

Members of the 433rd Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department paid tribute to the 9/11 firefighters who perished in the World Trade Center during its September unit training assembly here at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Sept. 10, 2017.

Approximately 10 members of the 433rd CES Fire Department honored the fallen firefighters by walking up and down 110 flights of stairs.

Most of the 10 firefighters were in full gear with oxygen tanks and helmets. A dispatch audio recording from the World Trade Center towers was played during the event so participants and attendees could hear transmissions between first responders before the towers collapsed.

The 433rd CES Fire Department has participated in this annual stair climb to help keep the memory alive of the 343 firefighters and paramedics who died during the September 11th attacks on the United States.
