JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
Students from the Inter-American Air Force Academy got a first hand look at the 433rd Maintenance Squadrons propulsion, fabrications, and sheet metal shops during a tour at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland June 1. The class is made up of international Air Force logisticians who are looking to strengthen partnerships through their education and training.
Tech. Sgt. Sean Preston, 433rd Maintenance Squadron aerospace propulsion technician, briefed the students on the new F-138 engine that the C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft uses.
At the fabrication shop, Tech. Sgt. James Gomez, 433rd MXS machinist /welder, explained how the water-jet cutter is used to fabricate C-5 parts.
The tour ended with Staff Sgt. Kenan Torrance, 433rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron sheet metal technician, demonstrating to students the different types of sheet metal repairs his shop can perform.
"Tours like these are important because our students get to see first hand the concepts and procedures we discuss in-class", said Tech. Sgt. Arturo Garcia, 837th Training Squadron instructor.
