JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND –
Airmen from the 24th Air Force and its subordinate units had the opportunity to speak to local youth about the Air Force cyber mission during the annual Mayor's Cyber Cup March 25 in San Antonio, Texas.
Over 1,000 high school and middle school students, all competitors in the Air Force Association CyberPatriot challenge, met at the Freeman Coliseum for an awards ceremony as well as a chance to speak with local military, academic and cyber industry representatives. CyberPatriot is the premiere national youth cyber defense competition created by the Air Force Association to inspire high school and middle school students towards careers in cybersecurity and other science, technology, engineering and math disciplines.
After the information fair the students sat down for a luncheon where Brig. Gen. Mitchel Butikofer, 24th AF vice commander, congratulated them on their accomplishments and encouraged the students to continue learning and pursuing STEM-related careers.
