240511-A-VQ285-1011.JPG Photo By: Sgt. 1st Class Neil W. McCabe

NEW YORK - Sikh-American Army Reserve Lt. Col. Tejdeep Singh Rattan was interviewed by Army Reserve public affairs Soldiers during the May 11, 2024, "Turban Day," held in Manhattan's Times Square. In 2009, the Army granted Rattan's request to join the Army while keeping his turban and beard, both central to observant Sikhism. The colonel said he was grateful to the Army for expanding that permission to all Sikhs so they could serve in uniform. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Neil W. McCabe)
