Remembering the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers on Veterans Day

Members of the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers march into the San Antonio National Cemetery Nov. 11, 2018, for the annual Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Commemorative Ceremony. Comprised of former slaves, freed men and Black Civil War veterans, the historic Buffalo Soldiers persevered through the most difficult conditions imaginable to become some of the most elite and most decorated units in the U.S. Army.

Veterans Day events abound around Military City USA

Military personnel and members from the community attended a wreath presentation ceremony at The Alamo in San Antonio Nov. 10. The ceremony was part of the Veterans Day parade held to honor veterans and current active duty Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and Marines.
