Keep an Eagle Eye out this holiday season

37th Training Wing Public Affairs

The holiday season has a way of bringing out the best in our community with so many giving to others. This kind of goodwill towards man has a way of making us forget about the elements in our society who do not have this kind of holiday cheer. Therefore it becomes even more important for us to be observant of our surroundings while conducting our last minute shopping.

There are some activities you should be aware of that are key indicators of possible criminal or terrorist preoperational surveillance and planning activities at any commercial retail establishment, transportation venue, or other public gathering place. Report activities or circumstances that seem unusual:

-- Unusual interest in or attempts to gain sensitive information about security procedures, personnel, entry control points.
-- Discreet use of cameras, video recorders, or note-taking.
-- Observation of/or questions about security surveillance assets.
-- Be alert to the presence of unattended backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, and bags.
-- A stranger loitering in your neighborhood or a vehicle driving the streets repeatedly.
-- Open or broken doors and windows at a closed business or an unoccupied residence.

In order to have a fun and positive memory of this holiday season; it is important for us to have a safe holiday season. If you have information regarding suspicious or criminal activity, please contact your local law enforcement agency, installation Security Forces or Office of Special Investigations immediately.
