Wilford Hall schedules annual school, sports physicals

By Paula White Adolescent Clinic

The Wilford Hall Medical Center Pediatric Clinic has established dates for healthy children ages seven to 18 years to obtain school and sports physicals.

Appointments are for adolescent and pediatric Tricare PRIME patients only and can be scheduled on July 11 or 25, Aug. 8, 15 or 22 by calling 916-9900.

Parents should bring a completed school or physical form that includes the child's medical history. Along with the completed form, the child should have shot records, military identification card, third party liability card and vision screen, if they wear glasses. School physical forms can be obtained on the school Web sites or at the WHMC Pediatric Clinic.

WHMC Immunization Clinic staff will be available in the pediatric clinic to complete immunizations needed for each child. Parents are asked to please bring only the child or children with the appointment(s) to the clinic, due to space issues.

These mass physical appointments are set up with various stations. The parent will check the child in at the front desk and the child will take their records, completed forms and immunizations to each station to get vital signs, weights and heights, and vision screens.

Parents will be seated in the main waiting area while their child is in line to see the provider. The child will come and get their parents when it's time for them to see their provider. After the appointment, the parent will take the child to the immunization room. The entire process will take one to two hours.

These physicals are not designed for children with special needs or ill children. Children under seven years of age and teenagers needing a college physical should schedule an individual appointment on a different day.

Children brought in with additional medical issues, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, abdominal pain and colds, will need to schedule an appointment by calling 916-9900 to address these problems. These issues will not be addressed and no follow-up clinic appointments will be booked during these Friday afternoon physicals.

For more information, call 292-6604, but all appointments will be made by calling 916-9900.
