Group seeks Purple Heart recipients

By Michael Briggs 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

During display hours Monday and Tuesday of the Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial, members Alamo Chapter 1836 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart will be available to help register Purple Heart recipients for inclusion in the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in Newburgh, N.Y. Patriots of the Alamo Chapter will help current Purple Heart recipients and families of deceased recipients with the registration, which is offered free of charge.

"We are especially interested in helping families register their loved ones who received the Purple Heart in World War I," said Bill Bacon, Alamo Chapter 1836 adjutant. "Our current Hall of Honor recognizes recipients from World War II to present, but we are reaching out to families of World War I veterans in hopes of expanding the Hall to include Purple Heart recipients from the Great War."
