'Oktoberfest 2008' celebrates contributions of enlisted Airmen

On Oct. 10, Team Randolph is celebrating the contributions of enlisted Airmen assigned to Randolph Air Force Base with "Oktoberfest 2008." 

"This event is just one way of saying 'thank you' to our enlisted personnel and recognizing their hard work and continuing support to the Randolph mission and community," said Master Sgt. Jason Malec, Air Force Personnel Center superintendent of enlisted evaluations. 

The event will be held at Eberle Park from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities that day will include prize drawings, sporting events, games, a DJ and lots of German food.

Ticket costs are $3 for senior airmen and below, $5 for staff sergeants and technical sergeants, and $7 for senior non-commissioned officers, officers and civilians.

Tickets can be purchased with two options: 0ption 1, is a smoked turkey leg, baked beans, German potato salad, chips, 12-ounce soda, 16-ounce bottled water, and beer; Option 2, is two smoked sausages, sauerkraut, baked beans, German potato salad, chips, a 12-ounce soda, a 16-ounce bottled water, and beer. There will also be a designated driver table.

The schedule of activities is as follows:
7 a.m. - 5K run at Eberle Park
7:30 a.m. - 3-on-3 basketball and dodgeball at the Rambler Fitness Center
9 a.m. - volleyball at Eberle Park
9:30 a.m. - Homerun Derby at Softball Field 1
10:30 a.m. - Tug of War, Eberle Park
11 a.m. - Festivities and food service begins at Eberle Park
Noon - Horseshoes, Eberle Park
