Randolph PTO to host ‘Carnival’ Oct. 21

By Randolph Field ISD Parent-Teacher Organization

Randolph Field Independent School District's third annual "Carnival" will be held 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Eberle Park.

A variety of performances, games and activities have been planned including: a gaming tournament hosted by Game Crazy; a martial arts demonstration; the Randolph Ro-Hawk marching band and drum line; traditional carnival games such as dunk tank, ring toss and rocket darts; an inflatable obstacle course and giant slide; a hole-in-one putting green; and slingshot paintball.

The most anticipated event this year could be the "Pie in the Eye" booth, where students' dreams of throwing a pie in their teachers' face can come true.

Participants can also satisfy their sweet tooth with cotton candy, snow cones and a "sandy candy" station. Outback Steakhouse will provide a hamburger dinner plate with all proceeds benefitting the Randolph Field ISD Parent-Teacher Organization.

Parental involvement in schools can produce positive results for children, from decreased dropout rates to improved behavior, motivation and academic performance.

More and more schools across America are relying on parent-teacher organizations to fill gaps in classroom volunteers and assist with some of the budget concerns for programs that could otherwise be cut.

Randolph Field ISD has a very active parent-teacher organization that helps support a variety of activities at all three campuses, including providing some scholarships to graduating seniors. Since the PTO does not participate in any door to door sale-type fundraisers, officials hope the carnival will, yet again, help raise funds.

Tickets for game booths and the raffle drawing will be available for purchase at Eberle Park and all Randolph AFB community members can attend.
