Oktoberfest 2009 celebrates enlisted contributions

Team Randolph is set to celebrate the contributions of enlisted Airmen assigned to Randolph Air Force Base on Oct. 30 with "Oktoberfest 2009."

"It's a celebration to show a sincere appreciation to all of Team Randolph's enlisted people," said Senior Master Sgt. Ron Pompa, Team Randolph Top 3 president and Air Force Personnel Center superintendent, force structure integration branch. "However, all events are open to everyone on base."

The event will be held at Eberle Park from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities that day will kick off twith a 5K run; followed by sporting events like three-on-three basketball, dodge ball, sand volleyball and flag football; a DJ, and lots of German food. There will also be souvenir Oktoberfest mugs available for purchase for $3 each.

In addition to the sporting events, music and collectible mugs for sale, Oktoberfest will feature a "Show Your Shiny Car and Motorcycle"display. Those wanting to display their fancy, classic or customized car or motorcycle in the show may contact Master Sgt. Jason Beaudoin at either 565-3291 or at Jason.beaudoin@randolph.af.mil.

The menu will be a choice of either a German Bratwurst with sauerkraut, or a turkey burger. Sides for both options are potato salad, baked beans, chips and either soda or water and beer. Food tickets will be sold in advance for the flat rate of $5 each. There will also be a designated driver table.
