LAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
The Lady Warhawks basketball team opened their season by defeating Southwest Texas Junior College Cowgirls 73-49 Sept. 29.
Guards Angela Tisdale and Laurelle Hoffman had 19 and 15 points respectively. Tisdale's 13 points came in the first half. The Warhawks had 25 points in the first half and held the Cowgirls to 22 points.
"For the first game we did pretty good, and our defense looked good," Lady Warhawks coach Paul "TC" Caviel said.
The Cowgirls scored 27 points in the second half, but no Cowgirl scored in double digits.
Even though the Warhawks won the game by 24 points, Caviel said the team needs to work on slowing the fast break and cutting turnovers, as the women had 18 turnovers total.
The Lady Warhawks play again Saturday at the South Texas Club Sports League pre-season tournament.
