JBSA First Sergeant Diamond Sharp Awards

The Diamond Sharp Award is sponsored by the Joint Base San Antonio First Sergeants Council and recognizes outstanding Airmen who continually exceed the standard to meet the Air Force mission.

Duty Title: DOI, Flight Chief
Tech. Sgt. Nathan George drove the squadron's professional development, mentoring all enlisted tiers' narrative writing through two-hour sessions focused on the four Major Performance Areas, directly enhancing the leadership qualities of 341 Airmen. George fostered teamwork and resiliency, coaching three members through three squadron events, supporting 341 members that raised $1,800 and combating the No. 1 DEOCS critical concern of deteriorating morale. He completed three credit hours toward his biblical theology certification, levied education to nurture squadron members emotional intelligence through 13 team building events; increased quality of life for 43 families & refreshed the flight's esprit de corps.

Backfilling unit CCF position 40 days, Tech. Sgt. Benjamin D. Johnson led the 2025 Annual Awards board, employing 19 NCOs to rate 32 packages, readied four Airmen for ALS & FTEC taskers & oversaw five squadron formations to drive health/welfare check-ins for a 61-member unit. Crushing an AETC/CC readiness tasking, Johnson steered 59 members to meet AFPAAS, FCP, SGLI, FSGLI and vRED verification requirements, overseeing 75 updates to lead JBSA accountability check and position unit for 100% currency. He also safeguarded one member after discovery of domestic abuse, he coordinated care and provided emotional support to enable the Airman to return focus to successful completion of a six-day TDY, advancing AETC outreach goals with 24,000 patrons.

Duty Title: Course Chief, MWDC
Tech. Sgt. Paul J. Little delivered vital resources to a service member during a family emergency. He leveraged his skills in crisis intervention to ensure appropriate needs-based care stabilizing and assisting the family during a critical situation. He developed formal unit physical training program, worked with the Special Warfare Training Wing training staff to tailor exercise regimens to optimize AETC student/instructor fitness, prioritizing wellness and aligning with Second Air Force commander directives. Little also orchestrated a U.S. Border Patrol charity event, leading a team of joint service members that planned, executed, and drew 500 attendees that generated $21,000. His efforts strengthened bonds between the military, USBP, and the community.

Tech. Sgt. Trei D. Williams supported an Airman grieving the loss of their child by coordinating telework and a supportive manning position. This stabilized the Airman's wellbeing, preserved mission readiness, and enabled a seamless unit reintegration. Williams led six flight PT sessions and executed mock diagnostics for 40 Airmen, pinpointing fitness shortfalls and developing targeted corrective plans for six at‑risk members. His efforts elevated unit fitness ahead of the new Air Force PT standards. He bridged a critical mentorship gap during the absence of three NCOs, providing guidance to four Airmen as they navigated leadership challenges & continuing a reinforced culture of growth, accountability and professional resilience.

Duty Title: Cyber Network Analyst
Staff Sgt. Hannah R. Crowningshield identified an Airman dealing with a possible mental health crisis and quickly intervened. She provided multiple resources and regularly followed up with the Airman, protecting the Airman's safety and well-being. She went out of her way to assist two Airmen with car troubles, offering multiple rides to the Airmen and provided car repair and financial advice, equipping the Airmen with long-term skills and ensuring mission coverage. Crowningshield mentored six new Airmen on transitioning from the training to the operational environment. She covered unit culture, advocacy, and work-life balance, increasing team morale and resilience across the growing flight.


Staff Sgt. Michelle D. Kuzenko

Unit: Lackland Radiology Squadron
Duty Title: Computed Tomography Technologist
Staff Sgt. Michelle D. Kuzenko teamed with two private organizations leading a "Chief & Shirt" panel. She guided NCOs on navigating standards and “Tough Conversations," improving the leadership skills of 27 attendees and earning her recognition from 59th Medical Wing leadership. Kuzenko revived the squadron booster club and with her mentorship, the team ran a clothing and blanket drive, collecting 300 items for unhoused locals. Her guidance enhanced the organizational skills of four Airmen and camaraderie for 83 staff members. She also executed rapid response following a DUI event, synced with the San Antonio Police Department for member transport and facilitated ADAPT enrollment, providing vital support for airmen battling substance abuse, aligning with first Sergeant principles.

 

Senior Airman Hailey J. Jastrzembski

Lackland Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Public Health
Duty Title: Public Health Technician
As Lackland MDG Booster Club President, Senior Airman Hailey J. Jastrzembski spearheaded the "Easter Candygrams" fundraiser. She collaborated with three squadrons and 557 active duty and civilian members in raising more than $250, instrumental in securing unit morale events for FY26. Jastrzembski orchestrated the Lackland Aerospace Medicine Squadron promotion ceremony, mentoring a 13-member company grade officer and senior NCO team, coordinating with six flights for logistics, decor and refreshments for more than 100 guests and eight distinguished visitors, receiving O-6 recognition. She dedicated nine hours at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, supporting the livestock committee for 12,000 contestants. She managed care and equipment for 25,000 animals, which was vital to generating more than $12 million in funds for Texas education.

Airman 1st Class Jacob Asay attained his associate’s degree, completing courses in leadership, management, and public speaking. Rallying his peers, he then briefed 15 Airmen on Community College of the Air Force processes, leading four members to enroll in their first undergraduate courses. Asay personally guided six new Airmen through unit in-processing, escorting them between 12 offices to expedite onboarding. Now, he mentors 15 Airmen daily through their first Air Force milestones while improving their quality of life. Asay leads daily one-hour flight PT for his team of 24, with an optional 1-1/2-hour session beforehand. In addition, he holds an off-duty run club for six members, building their confidence in fitness and improving unit readiness.

Airman 1st Class Katiana Concepcion-Bonet led a USO beautification project where she directed 12 volunteers for two hours to restore facility exteriors and a children’s park, sustaining mission-ready facilities and improving quality of life for 50 service members and their families. She excelled as the unit's Booster Club Treasurer as she secured more than $3,000 in funds for a squadron holiday party and drove morale initiatives that bolstered unit readiness to promote cohesion for 340 members across three installations. Concepcion-Bonet aided a San Antonio Food Bank support event where she helped to distribute 10,000 pounds of food to 133 families in need, and also serving as a lead for the JBSA "Valero Texas Open" where she guided 46 volunteers to raise $4,000.
