JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas –
U.S. Air Force Lackland Medical Squadron-Randolph recently took part in a decontamination training event at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph in mid-February.
The decontamination training took place over the course of three days covering equipment set up and repair, as well as hazardous waste operations and emergency response.
Airmen prepared to set up a decontamination tent during a decontamination training and had 15 minutes to get the decontamination tent up, water heater going and four medical professionals in suits to be considered mission capable.
The concept of the decontamination tent was to bring the patient out of the tent and into the clinic free of hazardous chemicals.
Upon completion, the Airmen were offered 15 continuing education units through the American Medical Association as well as the Air Force patient decontamination certificate.
