JBSA Public Affairs launches ‘Connecting JBSA’ online announcement portal

502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Joint Base San Antonio Public Affairs has launched a new web bulletin board to replace the “Connecting JBSA” base wide email for sharing installation events, announcements, and key information.

The base wide Connecting JBSA email was discontinued as of Oct. 16. Additionally, the “Announcements” webpage at JBSA.mil was also discontinued, as the new bulletin board will replace that as well.

The page is designed to be simpler, more discoverable, and more flexible:

  • Anyone can submit a post (no need to route through org box channels).
  • Posts are visible to everyone who visits the board.
  • You can subscribe to receive updates.
  • Posts can include attachments/flyers and basic formatting.

What this means for you:

  • If you have info to share (events, service alerts, important updates), submit it directly to the board.
  • If you currently rely on the base wide email, please subscribe to the bulletin board so you continue to receive updates.
  • This is a great way for service members and families to receive real-time information for installation services, events, etc.

Have an item for Connecting JBSA?

  • Announcements must have information that pertains to the entire base community.
  • To get information published in the Connecting JBSA Community Bulletin Board, submit a post at https://www.jbsa.mil/ConnectingJBSA/.
  • Announcements should be brief and concise, and use the following format: event, date, time, location, details, and general point of contact information (such as organizational emails, DSN numbers). Contact information on advertisements and flyers are limited to DSN and .mil email addresses. Personal contact information is not authorized.

We are not authorized to disseminate these types of emails:

  • Personally Identifiable Information
  • Links to websites inaccessible from a Department of War computer.
  • Announcements regarding advertising costs for goods or services.
  • Endorsements of Non-Federal Entity or NFE events.
  • All private organization announcements will be general and not advertise fundraisers or memberships, in accordance with AFI 34-223.
  • Posts will run until event ends or for one week, unless otherwise specified.
  • For more information, contact JBSA/502d Air Base Wing PA.

Short-notice requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Base-wide and wing-wide emails will now be limited to inclement weather statements, traffic closures, and others by commander direction.
