JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
Halloween-themed events will fill up the Joint Base San Antonio community this month. Parents and children alike can take part in the following events in ritualizing Halloween or harvest time.
Trick or Treating hours at all JBSA locations are scheduled for 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.
On Oct. 18, the Joint Base San Antonio Exceptional Family Member Program hosts its annual Halloween Howl Down event for children and families, which includes treats, entertainment, a resource fair, carnival games, hayrides, haunted house, food trucks, a Trunk-or-Treat, and more from 6-8 p.m. at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, at the parking lot across from the JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Military & Family Readiness Center, located at 3060 Stanley Road, building 2797. The free event is open to all JBSA members and their families. The event will provide a fun and safe time for JBSA children and families while providing information on community resources for families from more than 40 JBSA and San Antonio community partners.
On Oct. 19, 502nd Force Support Squadron presents the JBSA Fall Fest from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at JBSA-Lackland behind the Gateway Club, which is located at 1650 Kenly Ave. Open to all DOD ID cardholders, the event will include a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, food trucks, shopping market, interactive activities, music, crafts, games and more. On Oct. 19, the 502nd FSS presents a Boo Bash from 1-3 p.m. at JBSA-Lackland’s Arnold Hall Community Center, located at 1560 Stewart St. This free event includes a costume contest, pumpkin decorating (while supplies last), face painting, photo area, candy bag, popcorn and more. On Oct. 25, the 502nd FSS presents a Halloween Party from 4-11 p.m. at the Gateway Club’s Lone Star Lounge, which is located at 1650 Kenly Ave. Come to the Lone Star Lounge dressed in your favorite Halloween attire and listen to DJ Tony Style play your favorite tunes. On Oct. 25, a free showing of “Hotel Transylvania” takes place at the Bob Hope Theater, located at 1451 Stewart St. at JBSA-Lackland. Doors open at 6 p.m., a children's costume contest begins at 6:15 p.m., and the movie begins at 6:30 p.m.
On Oct. 26, the 502nd FSS presents the JBSA Spooktacular from 5-9 p.m. at the JBSA-Randolph Parr Club, which is located at building 500. On Oct. 26, the 502nd FSS presents a Costume Contest onsite from 6-8 p.m. at the JBSA Spooktacular, at the JBSA-Randolph Parr Club, which is located at building 500. Costume judging will take place at 6 p.m. at the DJ booth, with the winner announced at 8 p.m. Voting categories include creativity and originality, craftsmanship and use of resources, presentation and autonomy, and accuracy and realism. There will be three age groups: Infants to 4 years of age, 5-11 years of age and 12-18 years of age. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place for each group. From Oct. 30-31, JBSA Youth Programs presents the Keystone Haunted House from 6-9 p.m. at JBSA-Randolph Youth Programs, located at building 584, 4th St. E and E St. E. Keystone will host their first haunted house at the Randolph Youth Center with lots of scares, thrills and screams. The entrance fee for the Haunted House is $5 per person and is open to all active members of Randolph Youth Programs and their families. On Oct. 31, the 502nd FSS presents the Spook A Par Four-Person Scramble from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the JBSA-Lackland Gateway Hills Golf Course, located at 1800 Dimstead Place. Join us for this spooky golf tournament at the JBSA-Lackland Golf Course and wear your best Halloween attire. The cost is $30 per golfer plus greens and cart rental fees. The fee includes lunch and prizes. There will also be a prize for the winner of the costume contest.
