Air Force accepting 2024 JBSA Military Ambassador applications

By Kathleen Salazar 502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Each year, units from all services across Joint Base San Antonio select military ambassadors to represent their service during the annual Fiesta San Antonio celebration, as well as other events across the JBSA community.

The Air Force is looking for two Airmen, male and female, to represent the Air Force stationed at JBSA to serve as military ambassadors in 2024.

Ambassadors participate in the annual 11-day Fiesta celebration with more than 50 activities associated with Fiesta San Antonio and other high-profile events throughout the year.

“The program not only highlights the strong connection with the local communities but also the partnership we have developed over the years,” said Brig. Gen. Russell D. Driggers, Joint Base San Antonio and 502nd Air Base Wing commander.

All Air Force members, E-4 to E-7, 21 years old and older, and assigned to JBSA, are eligible to apply for the military ambassador program. Nomination packages will be distributed to public affairs offices across JBSA or can be found at https://www.jbsa.mil.

Ambassadors participate in parades and various community events within a 50-mile radius of the JBSA area, along with Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard Ambassadors.

“It’s a great opportunity to showcase our best to the public and give our Airmen, alongside their fellow Ambassadors from the other Services, the chance to experience the communities in and around Military City, USA,” Driggers said.

The application packets are due by Sept. 22. Nominees must provide a letter of recommendation from their unit commander along with their packet.

Once nominated, candidates appear before an Air Force selection panel of chief master sergeants. The selection panel will review applications, conduct interviews, and select the ambassadors.
