News Release: AETC commander relieves Nineteenth AF commander at JBSA-Randolph

By Air Education and Training Command Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas

The Air Education and Training Command Commander, Lt. Gen. Brian S. Robinson, relieved the 19th Air Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Phillip A. Stewart, from command on May 9 due to a loss of confidence in his ability to lead, related to alleged misconduct which is currently under investigation.

Lt. Gen. Robinson determined new leadership was necessary to ensure good order and discipline, and continued high performance within the organization.

“The Air Force takes any misconduct allegation seriously and is committed to conducting a thorough investigation,” Robinson said.

The 19th AF Vice Commander, Brig. Gen. Christopher R. Amrhein, has been appointed as the interim 19th AF commander, effective immediately.
