RACELAND, Louisiana –
Members of the 149th Fighter Wing from Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland traveled to Louisiana recently to help with Hurricane Ida recovery efforts.
The Gunfighters are part of a joint effort by the Texas Military Department to help Gulf Coast residents during a challenging time.
The Air National Guardsmen were in Thibodaux Sept. 4 and in Raceland Sept. 6, assisting in cleaning up debris.
Those on duty include more than 8,800 Soldiers and Airmen from 14 states responding to the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.
“The military members conducted search and rescue sweeps, provided security and support of local law enforcement, established distribution locations for people to get food and water, and cleared roads to allow crews to restore power to more than 1 million residents," said Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, National Guard Bureau chief.
