San Antonio Military Health System sets holiday closures

By San Antonio Military Health System sets holiday closures 59th Medical Wing Public Affairs

On Thursday, Dec. 24; Friday, Dec. 25; and Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, all Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland (Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center), JBSA-Randolph, and Gateway Bulverde Medical Treatment Facilities and pharmacies will be closed in observance of the federal holidays.

On Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, the JBSA-Lackland (WHASC), JBSA-Randolph, and Gateway Bulverde Medical Treatment Facilities will have limited services available.

The Primary Care Clinics (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatric, BHOP, Flight Medicine, and WOMC), as well as the Gateway Bulverde Family Practice Clinic, will remain open for same-day prescheduled appointments.  Limited specialty care clinics will be open for prescheduled appointments. Walk-in services will not be available.

The main pharmacies will be open for same-day appointment services. JBSA-Gateway Bulverde Pharmacy, JBSA-Lackland and Randolph satellite pharmacies will be closed. Consider bringing in prescriptions or ordering refills for pick up prior to Dec. 23, since the week of a holiday is usually extremely busy and results in longer than normal wait times.

San Antonio Military Health System's COVID-19 screening and testing sites will adjust hours of operation to the following:

  • BAMC's site, located in the first-floor parking garage, will be closed from Dec. 24-27 and Dec. 31 through Jan. 3, 2021.
  • JBSA-Lackland's site, located in the first-floor parking garage, will be closed from Dec. 24-27 and from Jan. 1-4, 2021.
  • JBSA-Randolph's site at the Randolph clinic will be closed from Dec. 24-28 and from Jan. 1-4, 2021.

The SAMHS COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline will be available to address COVID-19 vaccine-related questions or symptoms during duty hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. To access the COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline, please call 210-581-2266, option. 6. After duty hours, call the Defense Health Agency Immunization Support Center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-877-438-8222.

For general COVID-19 questions or symptoms, please call the Consult and Appointment Management Office, or CAMO, at 210-916-9900 to schedule a Virtual Appointment with your PCM team. You may also send a secure message to your PCM team or refer to the guidance on the CDC's COVID-19 website.

For medical emergencies, dial 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department. As a reminder, the JBSA-Lackland (WHASC) Family Emergency Center and Brooke Army Medical Center Emergency Departments are open 24 hours/day.

For non-urgent medical questions, the Nurse Advice Line offers nursing advice by phone, chat, or video and can be reached at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273). Non-active duty patients may visit the nearest Urgent Care Center, without a referral, for urgent medical concerns.
