Due to COVID-19, the 106th Signal Brigade at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston will hold dual virtual ceremonies July 29 for their change of command and change of responsibility.

Army Col. Tia L. Benning will take over the 106th Signal Brigade from Col. David R. Lamy in a virtual change of command ceremony at 9 a.m. July 29.

Benning’s last assignment was a joint tour as the Combined Joint (CJ6) Chief and U.S. Forces-Afghanistan J6 Director for Resolute Support Headquarters at Kabul, Afghanistan. Lamy will become the Chief Information Officer, or CIO, of the Army Futures Command at Austin, Texas.

A virtual change of responsibility ceremony will also take place, where Sgt. Maj. Sean R. Gerner will take over for Sgt. Maj. Robert J. Beausoleil as the brigade’s command sergeant major.

Gerner’s last assignment was as command sergeant major of the 53rd Signal Battalion at Fort Carson, Colorado. Beausoleil will be retiring from the Army Dec. 31 with a total of 29 years’ service.

The ceremonies will be virtual, using the Microsoft Team Name of “106th SIG BDE Change of Command and Responsibility.”
