Royal Canadian Air Force supports JBSA with Hurricane Harvey relief supplies

502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

A Royal Canadian Air Force CC-130J Hercules airlift arrived at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas carrying humanitarian supplies from the government of Canada to aid in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts Sept. 3, 2017.

The RCAF airlift flew in from 8 Wing Trenton, Ontario, Canada, and is part of the Canadian government's response to the relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey that devastated the Gulf Coast region of Texas. The supplies delivered include pediatric necessities like baby formula, blankets, cribs and other similar items.

"The United States and Canada have a very close relationship over many, many years, said Scott Thomas, Federal Emergency Management Agency Director of Hurricane Relief Efforts in Texas. "During Hurricane Katrina, the Canadian government provided support to the response to Katrina with the same types of supplies. This is just one more example of the partnership we have as two nations."

"This is what friends and neighbors do," said Vasken Khabayan, acting Consul General of Canada in Dallas. "This is our token of showing how can we can appreciate our friend and neighbors whenever they are in need. Canada is by your side."
