JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
Soldiers from Fort Hood’s 297th Inland Cargo Transfer Company stopped Sept. 2 at JBSA-Lackland, Texas on their way to provide disaster relief to areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Harvey is the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 2005, and has displaced more than 30,000 people.
“It’s outstanding that we can get everyone together to help out,” said Army 1st Lt. Andrew Bomba, 297th ICTC transportation officer. “Helping people in need is the right thing to do, and we are here to do whatever we can.”
297th ICTC is moving more than 100 troops to areas affected by the storm and will provide material handling equipment like trucks and forklifts to assist in disaster relief efforts.
