JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
Many people in the Joint Base San Antonio community want to do something to assist the flood victims in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
Several options, more impactful and helpful, exists to donate to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, than food and clothing donations.
Examples include:
-
Donate cash to a reputable non-profit organization. Visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency website for recommended non-profit organizations at https://www.fema.gov.
-
Donate blood. Blood is always in short supply and especially so during nature disasters. The JBSA Armed Services Blood Program facilities support San Antonio Military Medical Center and the local Veterans Affairs hospital as well as special missions like natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey.
-
The chapel communities across JBSA will be holding special collections at their worship services, which will go to various non-profit organizations in support of flood victims.
-
Put together a clean-up bucket” kit and drop it off at any JBSA chapel as part of Operation Bucket of Blessing. These kits contain items needed by flood victims returning to their homes.
For more information about special collections or the clean-up buckets, contact your local JBSA chapel. Anyone interested in donating blood or being a point of contact for a blood drive can call (210) 292-8145 or (210) 292-8100.
