JBSA Defenders honor fallen comrades with retreat ceremony

By Airman Dillon Parker 502nd Air Base Wing

Security forces Airmen from the 343rd Training Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, began Police Week with a retreat ceremony May 15, 2017, at JBSA-Lackland's Security Forces Museum. JBSA security forces members and military police officers joined local police departments to honor their comrades who were killed in action.

The event was the third of the JBSA celebration of National Police Week, which was established by a joint resolution of Congress in October 1962. National Police Week recognizes the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement members and pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Members of JBSA are encouraged to attend the remaining events of the week, which are listed below.

May 18 - Ruck March to Remember at JBSA-Camp Bullis, 343rd Training Squadron

May 19 - Shoot your best hand at Medina Training Annex combat arms range

               - Battle of the Cross dedication / Family Day at JBSA-Lackland, 343rd Training Squadron
