JBSA Defenders kick off Police Week with Obstacle Course Team Challenge

Security forces Airmen from the 502nd Security Readiness group at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, began Police Week with an Obstacle Course Team Challenge May 15, 2017, at JBSA-Lackland's Medina Annex. Four-person teams tackled the obstacle course used to train Battlefield Airmen, competing for the top prize amongst the unit. 

The event was the first of the JBSA celebration of National Police Week, which was established by a joint resolution of Congress in October 1962. It occurs annually during the week in which May 15 falls. National Police Week recognizes the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement members and pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Members of JBSA are encouraged to attend the remaining events of the week, which are listed below.

May 17 - Football tournament at the Randolph High School football stadium

 May 18 - Ruck March to Remember at JBSA-Camp Bullis, 343rd Training Squadron

 May 19 - Shoot your best hand at Medina Training Annex combat arms range

               - Battle of the Cross dedication / Family Day at JBSA-Lackland, 343rd Training Squadron
