Thousands turn out for food and fun at Cowboys For Heroes annual event

Thousands of aficionados of chuck wagon cooking and general cowboy-style fun turned out for the annual Cowboys For Heroes event April 1, held this year at the MacArthur Parade Field at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

According to event organizers, it was the largest crowd to ever come out for the event, drawing between 5,000 and 6,000 attendees. A total of 17 chuck wagons from all over served up tons of grilled meats and all the fixings to a hungry and appreciative crowd. The organizers also noted that all the meat was gone in four hours.
