Colleville-sur-Mer, France - U.S. soldiers place American and French flags by headstones at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, June 5, 2026. The effort brought together military personnel and community members to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. The Normandy American Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 9,300 U.S. service members, most of whom lost their lives during the D-Day landings and subsequent operations of World War II.
