Geothermal energy on the way to JBSA

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas - Chris Cheng, Eavor Inc., manager of development engineering, briefs U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Russell Driggers, Joint Base San Antonio and 502nd Air Base Wing commander, during the project’s kick-off meeting held at JBSA-Lackland, Texas, Nov. 21, 2023. Cheng is part of the team awarded the contract to evaluate the potential to extract thermal energy through a closed-loop system at JSBA. When operational, the geothermal prototype at JBSA has the potential to furnish a seamless supply of clean, reliable baseload energy even in the event of commercial-grid outages.
