Army Leaders more empowered to locate missing Soldiers

ZAGAN, Poland - Soldiers of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, stand at attention at Zagan, Poland, April 1, 2022. U.S. Army Lt. Col. Sidney D. Howard III, commander of the 1st Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, presented the 1st Brigade Engineer Battalion coin to outstanding Soldiers of the 1BEB and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1ABCT., recognizing them for their hard work and dedication. Since the publication of Army Directive 2020-16, Determination and Reporting of Missing, Absent-Unknown, Absent Without Leave, and Duty Status-Whereabouts Unknown Soldiers, the urgency and timeliness of locating Soldiers who are missing from formation has been improved across the force at all levels.
