World War II pilot receives long-overdue medals, recognition

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Retired U.S. Army Air Corps 1st Lt. Gerald Teldon was recognized for his honorable service as a pilot July 29, 2022, at the Chabad Center for Jewish Life and Learning in San Antonio, Texas. Teldon, born in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1924, joined the military in 1944. He completed 62 missions during WWII and the Korean War. The awards presented to Teldon were the Air Medal; American Campaign Medal; European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; World War II Victory Medal; National Defense Medal; and the Distinguished Unit Citation.
