Cancer diagnosis leads Airman to BAMC for treatment

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas - Air Force Airman 1st Class Chelsea Kernan, security forces specialist, rings the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic bell, signaling the end of her cancer treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Oct. 15, 2021. Kernan, originally from Smithton, Illinois, had been battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that occurs in bones or in the soft tissue around the bones.
