The dose calibrator calibrates the quantity of radiotracer activity in the radiopharmaceutical. This process is done to make sure the radiopharmaceutical is the accurate dose before it is administered to the patient. A dedicated radiopharmacist, who has had several years of additional training in nuclear medicine, handles these types of radiopharmaceuticals.
