JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas - Sept. 27 marks an important date in Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph’s history. On that date 90 years ago, the U.S. War Department approved an Army Air Corps selection committee’s recommended name for a base set for construction on farmland adjacent to the community of Schertz. The installation was named Randolph Field, ensuring that the memory of Capt. William Randolph would be preserved for generations.
