MUSCATATUCK URBAN TRAINING CENTER, Ind. - Spc. Logan Lawrence adjusts the Level C suit of U.S. Army Pvt. Brandon Cormeir, both from 3rd platoon, 22nd Engineer Clearance Company, before Cormeir enters the exercise “hot zone” during Guardian Response 18 at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Ind., April 22. Lawrence is part of the first team entering the area to provide a 360-degree site characterization. The soldiers are identifying where casualties are and what kind of tools are needed to rescue them. U.S. Army North executes the annual Vibrant Response consequence management exercise at the direction of U.S. Northern Command to confirm command and control elements of the nation’s CBRN response forces. U.S. Force Command’s linked exercise, Guardian Response, held at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, validates how the subordinate units train to carry out the operations under the direction of a joint task force. GR18 is executed by the U.S. Army Reserve Command.
