Col. Trent Edwards, 37th Training Wing commander, presents a Fiesta Medal to 2015 Fiesta Royalty, Mark M. Johnson Jr., Texas Cavaliers King Antonio the 93rd, April 17, 2015, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The full-scale Basic Military Training Graduation Parade is the only military graduation incorporated into Fiesta and features more than 1,000 distinctive military members and the 323rd Training Squadron Drum and Bugle Corps. Fiesta San Antonio, the city's 11-day cascarón-filled celebration, began as a one-time parade in 1891 to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Over the past century, Fiesta has grown into a celebration of San Antonio's rich and diverse cultures.
