The 2014 military ambassadors, representing all branches of the Joint Base San Antonio military services, place their flowers at the Alamo during the Pilgrimage to the Alamo event as April 21 in San Antonio. The annual pilgrimage began in 1925 at the initiation of the Alamo Mission Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. During the procession and wreath-laying in Alamo Plaza, the names of the Alamo defenders are read, and a memorial service and the playing of Taps concludes the ceremony.
