A flag lower ceremony was held at the flagpole at the 12th Flying Training Wing Headquarters at 6 a.m. May 3 at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. The flag was lowered to half staff in remembrance of Maj. Jeff Ausborn, who was killed in Kabul, Afghanistan, April 27. Major Ausborn was a member of the 99th Flying Training Squadron. Members of his squadron and from throughout the 12th FTW held the ceremony in his honor. At the time of his death, Major Ausborn, a 19-year Air Force veteran, was serving as a C-27 instructor pilot at the 438th Air Expeditionary Wing in Kabul, Afghanistan.
