JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the United States Air Force, the 149th Fighter Wing invited civilian pilot James Bohanon to fly his P-51 Mustang in formation alongside the wing’s F-16s on Sept. 10, 2022 at Joint-Base San Antonio-Lackland. Bohanon has more than 210 hours of flying time with the aircraft.
This historic aircraft was not only the second model of aircraft to ever be flown by the 149th FW, but it was also flown by legendary Air Force pilot Chuck Yeager during World War II. Yeager was the first pilot to exceed the speed of sound.
