Great Texas Airshow Parking Information

Due to significant rainfall saturating the grounds, our original parking plan is no longer viable. To maximize enjoyment of the air show, we have implemented a new parking and shuttle plan with the generous help of our community partners. Please review the updated entry instructions below based on your ID status.

NON-DEPARTMENT OF WAR ID CARDHOLDERS

Non-DOW ID Cardholders must use bus transportation from specified parking locations: Rolling Oaks Mall (JC Penney side) and Judson High School. Parking is limited at these locations.  Rideshare services (e.g. Uber/Lyft) may be used to get to Rolling Oaks Mall or Judson High School. Non-DOW ID Cardholders will not be able to enter through any JBSA gates unless they are on a designated air show bus.

Shuttle Pick Up Locations:

  • Rolling Oaks Mall (JC Penney side): 6909 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, Texas
  • Judson High School: 9142 FM 78, Converse, Texas

Shuttle Operations:

  • The first buses will depart from the shuttle pick up locations at 8:30 a.m.
  • Buses will service these locations in a continuous loop, and the last bus will depart for JBSA-Randolph no later than 1:00 pm.
  • Return transportation from JBSA-Randolph to these locations will be available throughout the day and following completion of the air show.

For JBSA-Randolph residents and air show staff, please utilize the West Gate only.

If you are a DOW ID Cardholder NOT assigned to, employed at, or residing on JBSA-Randolph, please use JBSA-Lackland and JBSA-Fort Sam Houston as your entry points to get to the air show. Shuttle buses will be available from these locations on May 2 & 3.

🚨Attention guests🚨 Outbound buses are staged at two locations: the static aircraft display entry and exit point, and the Thunderbird Entry Control Point (annotated in red boxes on the attached map). If you arrived from Judson High School or Rolling Oaks Mall, when you are ready to depart please proceed to marked buses at the static aircraft display entry and exit point. If you arrived from JBSA-Lackland or JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, when you are ready to leave please proceed to marked buses at the Thunderbird Entry Control Point. The Great Texas Airshow returns to JBSA-Randolph May 2-3

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Great Texas Airshow will return to Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph on May 2-3, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the “Golden Knights.”

This year’s theme is "Let Freedom Roar; Honoring 250 Years." The event is free and open to the public. Gates will open at 9 a.m. each day, with aerial performances scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

A Military Appreciation Day for all Department of War ID cardholders is scheduled for Friday, May 1. The day will include a STEM Fair featuring cyber events and activities, along with aerial practice demonstrations.

In addition to the Thunderbirds and Golden Knights, other planned military acts include demonstration teams for the C-17, KC-46, and the F-22. The event will also feature static displays and support from all branches of the military. Planned acts are subject to change.
