JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas - Army Staff Sgt. Thomas Asher, 264th Medical Battalion combat medic, makes adjustments to his iron sights of an M4 carbine to zero in his rifle during the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence 2026 Best of the Best competition at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis, Texas, Sept. 1, 2026 for a “Stress Shoot” event. Asher and fellow competitors participated in a variety of events including obstacle courses, a ruck march, and a combat water survival test during the BotB competition where competitors are evaluated to identify premiere Soldiers in the command.
