Mr. Brian E. Hoffman is the Vice Director for the 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. As the senior civilian leader, he is responsible for consolidating 49 installation management support functions to enable the largest joint base in the Department of Defense. The 8,000-person 502nd ABW unifies 11 geographically distinct locations including JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, JBSA-Lackland, JBSA-Randolph and JBSA-Camp Bullis and consists of 266 mission partners, 80,000 full-time personnel, and a local community of more than 250,000 retirees. He advises the commander on civilian personnel actions and assists the commander in management and oversight of major projects, facilities, and infrastructure worth $37 billion for 20 Wing equivalent organizations.
Mr. Hoffman is a prior active duty finance officer and commissioned from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2007. He held positions as an E- 3 combat operations controller and student pilot before joining the
finance career field. As a finance officer, Mr. Hoffman managed a variety of unique comptroller organizations gaining experience and knowledge in budget, financial services, accounting, cost analysis, non- appropriated funds, and quality assurance. He served in multiple positions at the base-level including interim commander of the 45th Comptroller Squadron at Patrick AFB, Florida. He also served in a variety of centers including the Air Force Financial Management Center of Expertise and Deputy of Budget Operations for the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center. While on active duty, he deployed once to Kabul, Afghanistan and once to a joint position with headquarters, International Security Assistance Force, Afghanistan. Hoffman also worked on the Enterprise Stress Test team at the United Services Automobile Association before returning to the Air Force as a civil servant. He continues to serve in the United States Air Force Reserve.
