Base to celebrate Women’s History Month

During March, Team Lackland will celebrate Women's History Month with a series of events recognizing and celebrating the diverse and historic accomplishments of women in service of the federal government.
The Team Lackland celebration is a local extension of the National Women's History Project and has adopted this year's theme, "Generations of Women Moving History Forward." This theme recognizes the wisdom and tenacity of the generations of women who have come before and those who will follow.
Lackland's Women's History Month Committee, chaired by Maj. Shelley Campbell, 59th Training Squadron, has planned several activities throughout the month to incorporate the mind, body and soul.
There will be a "Leadership through Spirituality" seminar Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the Wilford Hall Medical Center Auditorium. Guest speakers will be Col. Joanne Kirschbaum, the 59th Training Squadron commander, Chaplain (Maj.) Eva Sorrow, 37th Training Wing, and Senior Master Sgt. Arlene Murray, the 93rd Intelligence Squadron first sergeant.
There will be a free grab-n-go breakfast offered at the door on the way in.

A health fair will be offered March 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wilford Hall atrium. All members of Team Lackland are invited to visit numerous informational booths about women's health.

There will be an awards breakfast March 28 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Kelly Field Club. Guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Karen Madsen, Air Intelligence Agency Plans and Programs chief. The event will conclude by honoring the Federal Women's Month Award winners within each category.

Additionally, there will be a Women's History Month Parade March 30 at 9 a.m. at the Lackland Parade Grounds.

Donations for shelter
Women's History Month will culminate March 31 with collected items being donated to the Bexar County Battered Women and Children's Shelter.
